Reassurance

It was shortly after lunch and the two of them were heading from different directions toward the entrance to the dining hall next to the dormitory. Enzio had been thinking about the different clients he had been sexually ignoring because of Lana. For some strange reason he felt like he had been cheating on her, and although he satisfied his clients with other methods, Rachel had pointed out to him that if he was no longer comfortable with having sex with them, then he should allow his student, Marcus, to take over those responsibilities.

Without realizing it, he looked right past her at first. Lana saw him, however, and thought she had done something wrong and that was the reason he ignored her. Enzio noticed her just as her face turned sad and she began to walk away from him with her head down. He understood immediately what she was thinking and called out to her. When Lana turned back, he practically ran up and gave her a quick hug and a kiss on the side of her head. He asked her how she was doing and she brightened up instantly. Enzio made up an excuse about class registration and they walked into the building with his arm over her shoulder. They sat together, ate and talked, but made no mention of the session that happened a few days prior with her and his girlfriend.

When lunch was over, he leaned over, kissed her forehead, and parted, but noticed that something was a bit off. “Are you okay?” he asked, rubbing her arm.

She nodded. “I just felt a little off,” she complained, “I haven’t been feeling pretty lately.”

Enzio stepped forward, “Why?”

Lana’s heart began beating faster and faster. She began to think about how Rachel looked in comparison to her, how confident she was when they were talking to one another, and how there was no way in hell she could match that level of sexuality and maturity, but instead, she just shrugged. “No reason. I’ve been feeling a bit ugly lately and…” Enzio tossed her an angry glare and walked away. She stood there for a minute, wondering what she said that was so wrong to get him so angry suddenly. When she walked out of the dining hall, she noticed that she had a text sent to her. She took it out and a smile jumped on her face as she read it.
